(Yicai Global) Sept. 25 -- Isabel Ge Mahe, or Ge Yue, managing director of Apple Inc.'s [NASDAQ:AAPL] Greater China unit, has opened an official account on Chinese social media platform Weibo, run by Weibo Corp. [NASDAQ:WB], making her the second Apple official to do so behind Tim Cook, chief executive.
So far, Ge has only used her account to follow Cook and promote the release of the iPhone 8 and Apple Watch Series 3 on Sept. 23, online tech outlet ITHome reported, adding that her account will be a second window into Apple's plans in China.
Born in Shenyang in China's northeast Liaoning province, Ge became vice president and managing director of Apple Greater China on July 19, 2017. She holds bachelors and masters degrees in electrical engineering from Simon Fraser University, in British Columbia, and an MBA from the University of California Berkely. Ge also has nine years of leadership experience with the smartphone giant's wireless technology team.
Tim Cook opened his official Weibo account on May 11, 2015. He has posted 67 messages to date and has 9.42 million followers.
