(Yicai Global) Nov. 17 -- Environmental public welfare project 'Ant Forest' has started collaboration with satellite data company Gago, Inc. and launched live-streaming called "watching trees through satellite" and "watching trees in real-time." The project enables users to view ant forest clearly thanks to satellite technology, online technology news outlet Kuai Keji reported yesterday.
Ant Forest is an environmental project launched by Alibaba Group Holding Ltd.'s [NYSE:BABA] third-party payment platform Alipay. Alipay users can accumulate green energy in Ant Forest through online payment, and when a user's green energy reaches a certain amount, Alipay and its public welfare partners will plant a real tree in the desert area of the Earth named after the user.
Wiewing trees through satellite can help Alipay users to see the tree with their own name, while another function of watching trees in the real-time will use electronic scarecrow to shoot real-time photos of trees and send them back to Alipay users.
By the end of August 2017, Ant Forest's users have exceeded 230 million and 10.25 million real trees have been planted and preserved in deserts with a total area of more than 106,720 hectares. Now these trees can be seen by Alipay users all over the world.
