Anheuser-Busch Is Upbeat About Shanghai’s Economy, CEO Says Anheuser-Busch Is Upbeat About Shanghai’s Economy, CEO Says

(Yicai Global) Oct. 13 -- Anheuser-Busch InBev has much confidence in Shanghai’s economy which should continue to make a strong recovery from the recent setbacks caused by outbreaks of Covid-19, the chief executive officer of the world’s largest brewer said at a recent think tank in the city.

“We applaud the Government of Shanghai for taking steps to stabilize the economy,” Michel Doukeris said at the 34th International Business Leaders' Advisory Council for the Mayor of Shanghai held on Oct. 7.

“We hope to see more economic stabilization programs for consumers, particularly programs at-scale or for the hard-hit nightlife sector, which would boost consumer confidence,” Doukeris said in his speech entitled, ‘Stabilizing Growth and Boosting Confidence to Speed up Recovery of Shanghai’s Economy.’

“Shanghai should leverage all its advantages and act as a window to the world to take effective and continuous measures to speed up economic recovery. The world looks to Shanghai as a barometer of China's future development,” he added.

The IBLAC is convened each autumn by the mayor of Shanghai to solicit opinions from top executives of multinational companies regarding the future development of the Chinese financial hub. This year, the theme was 'Promoting green, low-carbon development for urban sustainability.’

Over 40 senior executives from 24 cities attended the forum virtually to advise the megacity of Shanghai on the best green practices based on their own internal and global experiences.
