(Yicai Global) Feb. 9 -- Chinese e-commerce stalwart Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. has won a contract from Hengyi Petrochemical Co., the country's biggest polyester maker, to provide Big Data and cloud computing services, as part of the firm's push to apply its expertise in traditional industry sectors.

Hangzhou-based Alibaba Cloud Computing Co., also known as AliCloud, will assist Hengyi Petrochemical in boosting its industrial management capabilities and efficiency, the firm said in a statement.

Hengyi Petrochemical, also based in Hangzhou, aims to achieve a connection between production control and operational management through the use of AliCloud's ET Industrial Brain product, with an emphasis on production, safety, equipment, quality and energy use.

The company will also capitalize on AliCloud's big data architecture to establish an enterprise-level platform, with the hope of realizing business- to data-driven transformation, as well as intelligent decision-making and forecasts.
