(Yicai) April 22 -- The Aito M8, which is part of Huawei Technologies’ Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance, Li Auto’s all-electric six-seater sports utility vehicle, the Li i8, and Zeekr’s flagship SUV, the Zeekr X9, are a few of the more than 100 vehicles that are set to make their global debut at the Shanghai Auto Show which kicks off tomorrow.

Over 100 new cars are expected to make their first appearance at the 21st Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition, which will run until May 2 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center, a representative from the Council for the Promotion of International Trade Shanghai said at a recent press briefing.

Many car makers have chosen to unveil their latest vehicles at the Shanghai Auto Show, all of which are highly anticipated models that the firms have high hopes for, The Paper reported today. Among the big reveals are Avatr’s most affordable model to-date, the Avatr 06, XPeng’s all-new mid-size electric SUV, the XPeng G7, and the Onvo L90, a large pure electric SUV under Nio’s Onvo marque.

The Shanghai Auto Show has invited almost 1,000 companies from 26 countries and regions. This year’s event boasts the biggest exhibition area ever at over 360,000 square meters. Not only will car giants such as Volkswagen Group, BMW and Toyota Motor be present, there will also be many more tech and supply chain companies than in previous years and their exhibition area alone takes up 100,000 sqm.

Volkswagen is showcasing more than 50 cars from its many marques, including Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche and Bentley, seven of which will be world premieres, the Wolfsburg-based firm said at a media event it hosted ahead of the Shanghai Auto Show. The company will launch the group’s largest-ever smart connected vehicle initiative in China at this year’s auto show, it added.

The auto industry is expected to maintain steady growth in 2025 and vehicle production and sales should continue to climb, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers. Car sales this year are projected to jump 4.7 percent from the year before to 32.9 million units.
