(Yicai Global) Aug. 11 -- China's first healthcare institution to float, Aier Eye Hospital Group Co. [SHE:300015], said that it has acquired Clinica Baviera SA, the largest ophthalmology clinic chain in Europe, and made all relevant payments.
The company bought 14,159,510 shares, representing an 86.83-percent stake, in Clinica Baviera through Aier Eye International (Europe). With the completion of the acquisition, Aier Eye Hospital Group will become the world's only healthcare group that has listed units in both China and Europe.
Clinica Baviera was established in 1992 and is mainly engaged in ophthalmological services such as laser eye surgery and intraocular lens surgery. Clinica Baviera was listed on the Spanish Stock Exchange in 2007. The company posted a net profit of USD9.3 million (EUR7.9 million) last year. It has more than 70 ophthalmological clinics in Europe with 174 ophthalmologists and 110 optometrists.
