(Yicai) March 4 -- The chairman of Chinese technology giant Xiaomi will bring four proposals at this year's Two Sessions, covering artificial intelligence, green and low-carbon initiatives, intelligent driving, and intelligent manufacturing.
There is a sharp increase in demand in various industries for personnel with basic AI skills and a clear shortage of top-tier AI talents, Lei Jun said today. Therefore, in his AI-related proposal, Lei will suggest popularizing AI from the compulsory education stage, promoting the introduction of AI-related majors at universities, and supporting large tech firms and educational institutions in nurturing talents specialized in applied AI.
The Two Sessions are the annual plenary meetings of the National People's Congress and the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, which are the country's top legislative and political advisory bodies, respectively. This year's Two Sessions will run from today to March 11.
About intelligent driving, Lei believes China should standardize the application of driver assistance functions to create a safe driving experience and the use of vehicle data to enhance the safety level of intelligent driving products and regulate the applications of autonomous parking functions to ensure safety in unmanned scenarios.
With regards to green and low-carbon initiatives, Lei will recommend China accelerate the establishment of a carbon footprint background database for the manufacturing industry to promote international alignment and mutual recognition, support the creation of a green digital supply chain system, and explore the set-up of a national trading mechanism for green electricity to help leading enterprises driving green transformation.
In the final proposal about intelligent manufacturing, Lei will suggest promoting the integration of advanced intelligent technologies into the manufacturing industry to foster innovation, accelerating the deployment of industrial large language models, enhancing the construction of standard systems, and supporting leading enterprises to undertake major projects in intelligent manufacturing by focusing on key technological equipment.
