(Yicai Global) Aug. 9 -- The China businesses of seven overseas auto companies, including Volkswagen, Toyota Motor, and Hyundai Motor, have announced this week that they will rescind a total of over 650,000 vehicles in China, mostly due to faulty engines.
Beijing Hyundai Motor, a joint venture between BAIC Motor and Hyundai Motor, will recall more than 400,000 new Tucson sport-utility vehicles because of defective engines, the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration said in a statement.
GAC Honda Automobile will take back 222,700 Accord sedans whose engines may become hazardous when driving in low temperatures. GAC Group's other JV, GAC Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, is withdrawing over 9,000 brand new Jeep Compass SUVs from the market.
Dongfeng Honda Automobile will recall about 30,000 Inspire sedans made this year. Toyota Motor China Investment is taking back over 4,700 imported cars in its Lexus luxury series. FAW-Volkswagen Automobile will rescind 4,600 China-made Audis due to potential engine failures.
