95% of China's IT Firms Have Resumed Work, Ministry Says 95% of China's IT Firms Have Resumed Work, Ministry Says

(Yicai Global) March 30 -- Ninety percent of China's information technology firms had resumed work nationwide as of March 28, a top official with the country's industry and IT ministry said today at a press briefing today. 

Over 90 percent of employees have returned to their posts at China's largest semiconductor foundry Semiconductor Manufacturing International and BOE Technology Group, one of the world's largest makers of liquid crystal displays, organic light-emitting diodes and flexible displays, while 90 percent of Huawei Technology's production has returned to normal. Main iPhone assembler Hon Hai Precision Industry, trading as Foxconn Technology Group, but better known as Foxconn, has welcomed back 81,000 workers, about 94 percent of all employees, to its 27 major factories.

The resumption of work of nearly 100 key enterprises' has drawn over 10,000 associated small and medium enterprises into restarting work, thus helping to stabilize global supply chains, Xu Kemin, director of the Department of Industrial Policy of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
