(Yicai) April 29 -- Seventy-five percent of the Chinese foreign trade enterprises interviewed by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade intend to expand into emerging markets to compensate for shrinking exports to the United States.

Nearly half of the 1,100 surveyed Chinese exporters plan to reduce their business with the US, and three-quarters of them will work to increase their presence in emerging markets, the CCPIT said in a survey report released yesterday.

Frequently changing tariff policies increase global uncertainties and make it more difficult for businesses to implement long-term plans, said Zhao Ping, spokesperson for the CCPIT. But with the Chinese government's policies to support foreign trade, many firms are exploring new markets, expanding domestic sales, and enhancing supply chain resilience to overcome challenges, she added.

The CCPIT is assisting Chinese foreign trade companies in three key ares, Zhao noted. The first is simplifying certificates of origin and other commercial certifications, with the body having already issued nearly 2.1 million certificates for a total value of USD129.5 billion.

The second area is expediting approvals for Chinese firms participating in overseas exhibitions, with 1,235 projects already approved for this year. The third area is organizing 184 Chinese business delegations to visit 45 countries and regions while providing them with legal protection, including foreign case acceptance, commercial mediation, and patent and trademark application services.

The recent visit to China of US chip giant Nvidia's Chief Executive Jensen Huang, which attracted widespread domestic and international attention, was at the invitation of the CCPIT, Zhao noted. China's certainty represents a major positive in an uncertain world, she added.

China offers a transparent, stable, and predictable policy environment, enormous consumer market potential, the world's most complete industrial chain, and a large pool of highly qualified talent.

China's position is clear, as its doors remain open to all foreign businesses, including US companies, Zhao said, adding that China's policies on utilizing foreign investment have not and will not change.

The global business community, including the US, unanimously agreed at this year's second meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Business Advisory Council that the latest US tariff policy has multiple negative impacts on Asia-Pacific economies, she revealed. Decoupling, chain-breaking, tariff barriers, and politicizing economic and trade issues under the disguise of security concerns are uncommon practices in the global business community.
