(Yicai Global) July 7 -- Chinese internet and telecom giants Baidu, Huawei Technologies, and Alibaba Group Holding will lead China's first task force assigned with formulating national standards for testing large language models.
The National Artificial Intelligence Standardization Group, under the guidance of the Standardization Administration, today announced the leaders of the first LLM task force during the annual World Artificial Intelligence Conference held in Shanghai.
The nation started working on such standards in May and announced that it would set up a dedicated group for that purpose. It said that a leader and a deputy leader would be appointed for the team and research topics would be welcomed.
Per the requirements, group participants must demonstrate a professional level in theoretical research and industrial application of LLMs and be familiar with international scientific and technological trends, as well as laws, regulations, and standards. Team leaders must provide research theme suggestions involving key areas such as software and hardware, key technologies, as well as industrial applications.
China is embracing AI with new institutions. The China Academy of Information and Communications Technology and the Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Laboratory launched the Large Model Testing, Verification, and Collaborative Innovation Center yesterday to assess LLMs and provide ecological services.
