(Yicai Global) June 15 -- Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok, will livestream all the action at the long-delayed 19th Asian Games when they take place in Hangzhou, eastern Zhejiang province later this year.

Operator Douyin Group, which is an affiliate of TitTok operator ByteDance, is teaming up with state broadcaster China Media Group to stream all matches from the sports bonanza live on all its platforms, including Douyin and Jinri Toutiao, the Beijing-based short video platform said today.

Full replays will also be available, along with a multitude of videos about the athletes, match updates, sports tips and highlights of the Asian Games, that were not held as scheduled last year due to Covid-19 and will take place from Sept. 23 to Oct. 8.

Douyin and China Media will link arms to create new forms of cooperation and to build more innovative ways for viewers to interact and to enrich their viewing experience when watching matches, a company executive said.

Douyin has been moving into sports content in recent years by partnering with copyright holders. It was an authorized broadcaster of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar last year and also released exclusive programming during the 2020 Olympic Summer Games in Tokyo and the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing.

Around 10.6 billion viewers watched the FIFA World Cup on Douyin last year. Some 230 million tuned in to watch the final, with 4.9 million chatting at the same time.
