(Yicai Global) May 24 -- Food delivery titan Meituan, courier giant STO Express and other large Chinese companies are preparing to recruit more university graduates this year and are broadening their requirements as a record 11.5 million graduates prepare to flood the job market.
STO Express plans to hire around 1,000 graduates this year, double the number last year, the head of recruitment at the logistics company told Yicai Global.
Graduates need to stop stressing and match their abilities with their careers, the person said. They need to directly communicate with the Shanghai-based firm through multiple channels rather than blindly following suggestions online.
Meituan plans to hire over 4,000 graduates this spring to fill a wide range of positions from technology, business analysis and supply chains to customer services, said Wei Xiaokang, who is in charge of hiring at the Beijing-based firm. They will be stationed around the country, including in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen. “Growth” is Meituan’s core concept in terms of recruitment, he added.
J&T Express has hiked its recruitment of fresh graduates by 10 percent this year from a year ago, the express delivery company said. Graduates need to participate actively in job fairs on campus so as not to miss any opportunities and also be aware of job traps, such as companies offering a huge salary with low requirements.
SF Holding is looking for graduates in the sciences, engineering and logistics fields, the executive in charge of recruitment at the express delivery company said. They need to have clear logical thinking, strong ability in data analysis as well as the willingness to work in frontline posts.
L’Oréal China will hire graduates in fields ranging from computer science, Big Data, artificial intelligence and engineering in order to keep the French cosmetics giant ahead of the game as tech and digitization now play bigger roles in the future of cosmetics, the head of the human resources department said.
Procter and Gamble has a number of posts open in its research and development, information technology and supply chain management divisions for graduates in sciences and engineering, the HR director at the China arm of the US consumer goods’ firm said. Otherwise it does not have major restrictions in hiring.
Hainan Airlines is on the hunt for graduates proficient in foreign languages, as the carrier’s international flight routes get back on track after the pandemic, said Gao Xiaolong, general manager of the carrier’s human resources department. The Haikou-based firm’s marketing department is recruiting people who can speak English, Japanese, Russian, Spanish and many other foreign languages.
Spring Tour’s new hires will first need to do an internship then they will rotate between departments in order to evaluate their strengths before the Chinese travel agency decides where to place them, Deputy General Manager Zhou Weihong said. The firm is not just hiring graduates who major in tourism.
