(Yicai Global) May 22 -- Chinese tech giant Huawei Technologies is offering outstanding young geniuses from around the world at least five times the average salary, up to a maximum of CNY2 million (USD284,814) a year, in order to recruit the best tech innovators.
Huawei is on the hunt for young scientists aged between 25 and 30 who are at the height of their research powers and have the ability and willingness to tackle global problems, the Shenzhen-based company said on its WeChat recruitment account on May 19.
And it is offering no less than five-times the average salary in order to secure this talent. Huawei will pay compensation within three payment brackets, namely between CNY896,000 (USD127,641) and CNY1 million (USD143,597), between CNY1.4 million and CNY1.5 million, and between CNY1.8 million and CNY2 million, it said earlier.
Most of these ‘young geniuses’ have just received their doctorate and are at their prime in terms of physical strength, intelligence, and innovation ability, said Tian Qi, chief artificial intelligence scientist at Huawei Cloud.
But they do not need to have high academic qualifications in order to be eligible, Huawei said. Rather, they should have special achievements in mathematics, physics, chemistry, materials, computer science, and intelligent manufacturing, and aspire to be a technology leader.
Those who have achieved scientific breakthroughs and patents, published in leading journals or won awards in international competitions will be preferred, it added.
The ‘young geniuses’ program is an important part of founder Ren Zhengfei’s strategy to lead the world forward. It was set up in June 2019 by Ren after the US commerce department added Huawei to the so-called Entity List to restrict sales of US-made technologies to it.
