(Yicai Global) May 8 -- Shares of iFlytek surged after the Chinese developer of artificial intelligence technology said its cognition AI model will be applied to the education, office, auto, and digital work fields.
IFlytek [SHE: 002230] soared 9.3 percent to CNY63.42 (USD9.17) per share as of 10.35 a.m. today.
Spark Desk may be used in revising Chinese and English pieces, oral dialogues in Chinese and English, smart offices, and improving the intelligent human-computer interaction in cars, Hefei-based iFlytek said on May 6. The model will also be applied to the medical and industrial sectors in the future, it added.
The first group of more than 3,000 business developers from 36 industries will adopt the Spark Desk model, according to Liu Qingfeng, chairman of iFlytek.
The firm's universal model, which will play a leading role in the education, medical, and other fields, will equal ChatGPT on Oct. 24, Liu noted. Spark Desk's Chinese version will do better than the OpenAI's chatbot while the English version will reach the same level, he added.
Two other Chinese companies unveiled the application of their AI models on May 5.
NetEase Youdao, a translation platform under gaming giant NetEase, released a video about its AI model Ziyue showing that its International English Language Testing System, or IELTS, examiner can initiate conversation in English. The product is still in the research and development phase, the company noted in the comment section.
TAL Education Group, a leading education technology firm, is developing a mathematical AI model, MathGPT, which will be used to write, speak, read, and learn math, the company said, adding that the model will be launched this year.
