(Yicai Global) Sept. 2 -- Shanghai's Pudong New Area has unveiled the Model Matrix Community, a new hub for large language model development that aims to foster specialized applications in the artificial intelligence sector.
Based in Zhangjiang Science City, the Model Matrix Community is designed to support companies in their research and development efforts, accelerating the growth of new productive forces.
First introduced last year, ‘new productive forces’ is a concept that reflects China's shift towards innovation-driven economic growth, focusing on advanced technologies, digital transformation, and the development of high-tech industries.
Twenty-four companies across the specialized model ecosystem such as Xiaodu Technology, Rock AI, Weili Tech, and Light Standard Tech, officially moved into the Model Matrix Community at an inauguration ceremony held on Aug. 30.
Chen Weiwei, general manager of Shanghai Zhangjiang Group, and He Dajun, general manager of Shanghai Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park Development, presented a ‘key’ to representatives of each firm.
Shanghai has been positioning itself as a key player in China's technological and innovation landscape, with a particular focus on AI, biotechnology, and advanced manufacturing. Zhangjiang Science City is a key venue for these efforts, housing numerous high-tech businesses, research institutions, and innovation platforms.
The Model Matrix Community gathers together nearly 40 firms in various areas of the LLM field, including foundational technologies, application development, scenario design, and computing power. This creates a closed-loop research and application ecosystem, fostering collaboration and empowerment among resident companies and achieving a clustering effect along the industry chain.
The community has also signed agreements with 15 application scenario partners, including ZTE, Guizhou-Cloud Big Data Industry Development, and Silicon Flow, as well as 26 financial ecosystem partners, to provide industry application scenarios and an innovative environment for resident companies.
In addition, it has set up the Model Matrix Source incubator, which has already attracted 16 specialized model startups.
