Volvo, Ford to Recall Over 250,000 Vehicles in China Volvo, Ford to Recall Over 250,000 Vehicles in China

(Yicai Global) Aug. 20 -- Volvo Cars and Ford Motor have recently released separate vehicle recall notices. Volvo will take back 245,000 imported and China-made vehicles because of seat belt problems, while US-based Ford will summon nearly 15,000 imported Lincoln cars over airbag problems, the State Administration for Market Regulation said on its website on Aug. 18.

Volvo will service 244,800 exported-to-China and China-made vehicles produced between 2006 and August 2018 from Jan. 18. Front-seat safety belts may lose their restraining function under extreme conditions because of a design flaw, the Swedish auto subsidiary of Chinese auto giant Geely said in its notice.

Ford China will call in 14,659 Lincoln vehicles imported between May 2015 and September last year starting tomorrow. The front-seat airbag system of these vehicles is apt to malfunction under extreme conditions and is thus unsafe.
