(Yicai Global) Jan. 29 -- Beijing Bytedance Technology Co. said it has agreed to work with BuzzFeed Inc. to distribute the US media firm’s materials on its news aggregator app Toutiao and its TopBuzz and Xigua Video platforms, bringing them to audiences in China, North America, Japan and Brazil.
The Beijing-based group will host English, Japanese, Portuguese and Spanish BuzzFeed content.
“Bytedance users will be able to enjoy BuzzFeed’s content including videos from its portfolio of popular franchises including Tasty, Nifty, Goodful, Top Knot, and Bring Me,” the Chinese group said in a press release on Jan. 25.
Founded in 2012, Toutiao is one of China’s largest online content providers leveraging artificial intelligence to make personalized selections for users.
As a global digital media company, BuzzFeed provides aggregation services to more than 100 million users. Its videos, articles, graphics interchange formats and breaking stories cover news, commerce and entertainment.
Bytedance introduced its first global product, TopBuzz, in 2015. “It helps creators reach their target audiences and enables users to discover a wide range of interesting content.”
