(Yicai Global) April 4 -- Jinhong Holding Group Co. will partner with a clean energy technology developer affiliated to China Huaneng Group, to develop hydrogen energy technologies for fuel-cell vehicles in Zhangjiakou, one of the host zones for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, in the northern Hebei province.
Zhangjiakou Honghua Clean Energy Technology Co., a subsidiary controlled by Jinhong Holding, recently signed an agreement with Huaneng Clean Energy Research Institute to develop hydrogen energy technologies, Honghua said in a statement yesterday.
Jinhong Holding is a supplier of natural gas. Huaneng Clean Energy Research Institute is a subsidiary of power giant Huaneng Group, which owns a 90 percent stake. The institute recently won the bid for a technological research and demonstration project initiated by the Beijing municipality, which involves providing a hydrogen energy supply chain for fuel-cell vehicles.
The project aims to research and develop key technologies for hydrogen energy production, storage, transport, and fueling through the supply chain system and to achieve sustainable commercial operation.
Under the deal, Jinhong Holding will take charge of the construction of a hydrogen production and refueling station in Zhangjiakou, as well as the research and development of mobile hydrogen refueling vehicles, the statement said.
The implementation of the project will provide technology support for the government's efforts to establish a hydrogen energy supply system in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and to serve the demonstration operation of fuel-cell vehicles for the 2022 Winter Olympics, it added.
