(Yicai Global) Sept. 18 -- Authorities have exposed and recorded an issue with products from Cola Cao, a beverage brand that was popular among Chinese kids in the 1980s.
The China Food and Drug Administration said on Sept. 15 that parties involved have made arrangements to address the excessive mold content in Dense Coco solid beverages produced by Cola Cao Food (Tianjin) Co. with the relevant products being recalled, and the enterprise’s illegal act put on record.
An announcement released on June 26 showed that the CFDA found 100 colony-forming units of mold per gram in a container of a Dense Coco solid beverage sold in a supermarket in Beijing. The relevant standards allow for no more than 50cfu/g.
Excessive mold can come from processing raw materials containing mold or improper control of product storage and transport conditions.
