(Yicai Global) May 17 -- China was invited to pay a visit to the US to negotiate economic and trade issues with the US economic team and the visit is unrelated to the US’ Section 301 investigation hearing, Gao Feng, a spokesman for China’s Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM), said today.
China’s stance towards the US Section 301 investigation and its potential measures has been consistent, Gao stated. China urges the US to terminate the Section 301 investigation to create a sound environment for economic and trade cooperation for the mutual benefits of both countries, he added.
China, which opposes the unilateral American practice of initiating the Section 301 investigation, notes that more than 90 percent of over 2,000 published written comments opposed the imposition of additional tariffs on Chinese products, which shows that the Section 301 investigation is unpopular even among locals. China hopes the US government will acknowledge its own public’s views and end the Section 301 Investigation.
