(Yicai Global) April 20 -- A unit under Visual China Group Co., the country’s largest provider of stock images, plans to open up its picture bank to Taobao China Software Co. to further strategic ties with its parent company Alibaba Group Holding Ltd., the biggest e-commerce firm in China.
The Tianjin-based subsidiary penned a three-year deal with Alibaba’s consumer-to-consumer marketplace, Visual China said in a statement. Taobao will use the images for Luban, the group’s intelligent design platform which offers creative design services and resources to e-commerce merchants. The statement did not disclose financial details.
Visual China already provides its vast image bank to a number of search engines, advertising platforms and social networks, including Baidu Inc., China’s leading search provider; Tencent Holdings Ltd., the country’s largest tech firm by market cap; and web browser maker Sogou Inc.
The agreement will help Visual China expand across the e-commerce sector and become more competitive in terms of big data and artificial intelligence, it added, saying this will allow it to obtain more customers.
