(Yicai Global) June 7 -- The 21st edition of Shanghai Film Festival opens in mid-June to bring some of the best productions of the world cinema to Shanghai’s enthusiastic moviegoers. Growing every year, Shanghai Film Festival is one of Asia’s biggest film industry events, attracting many stars from China and beyond.
People here love films, and this city has spared no efforts in nurturing the film industry, the organizers say. It holds four different kinds of activities during the festival, including the Belt and Road forum which is designed to promote cooperation between the film industries of the countries along the Belt and Road, a grand plan which places emphasis on infrastructure cooperation and connectivity between the continents of Asia, Africa and Europe.
Creating an exchange platform for film makers from different countries and opportunities for emerging filmmakers, Shanghai film festival presents Chinese and foreign film cultures to audiences. It has inked a cooperation agreement with Cannes Film Festival, one of Europe’s top film industry events, and six Japanese films will debut at this year’s festival.
This year’s festival will highly engage audiences again and contribute to the development of China’s film industry, while helping with establishing ecological construction of Shanghai’s entire movie industry chain. Well-known Chinese star Jiang Wen will chair the festival jury this year to accomplish the highly challenging mission of selecting the best film and other award-winners among many excellent contenders.
